wood turned bird sculptures
Our hand crafted bird sculptures are an original creation by Sward Designs.
Each one is unique, taking its character from the natural colours, patterns and shapes of the wood used. Birds are individually turned on a lathe then hand finished and mounted on characterful pieces of wood or on driftwood collected from Scottish beaches and loch shores.
The natural variations in wood mean that our stock is constantly changing. Contact us if you are interested in a particular design or wood type and we can let you know what is currently available. We are happy to discuss commissions, or to create your own bird sculpture using a piece of wood that is special to you.

other wood turned birds
Our wood turned wading birds are inspired by the birds on our Scottish beaches, seen scurrying around the strand line and waters edge. I display mine with my sea shell collection! Wall hanging birds are fixed with a simple picture hook, and perfect if you have no shelf space.
If you prefer a more practical piece, you may like our bird coat hooks and key hooks. As with the bird sculptures, each one is unique, taking its character from the wood colours and grain patterns. The coat hooks are hand forged from mild steel by the talented Rowan of An Teallach Smiddy. Key hooks are made with smaller more simple metal hooks.
